Film Shoot 2 Reflection

This time we went prepared with a tripod and a dolly rather than a steadicam so as to get steadier shots in the surf shop. We arrived with tags with written credits on them as we liked the idea of tags for the graphics, rather than digitally editing them on afterwards. We followed the guidelines of our initial storyboard but with some shots such as the book and the looking through wetsuits we improvised whilst at our location due to deeming it appropriate for our film opening. We had to take a few takes of each shot to ensure that we had high enough quality shots for post production. I found the dolly very nice and easy to work with, despite having no previous experience with it.
We also decided to walk down to Towan beach to reshoot the title, as we unanimously agreed it would create a better final product if we were to right the title of our film in the sand. Whilst walking down there we filmed a few shots looking down to the beach with a pan shot at the end to vary our shots more. When we arrived at the beach we also remembered the difficulty we'd had with the "Directed by" graphic, so came up with the idea of the use of stones in the sand for it. When attempting to write the title of our film in the wet sand we quickly came to realise what a nearly impossible task this was. This then resulted in us shortening the name to make things easier, not to mention we were cutting it close for time. Once the name had finally been written, we then realised it was too big and was a mission to attempt to film from a birds eye view. We took a few different shots experimenting with how we could show it, and will discover if any are appropriate when it comes to editing.
