Editing Decisions
After re-watching the first draft of our film a countless number of times we mutually agreed it was in extreme need of improvement. We asked our teacher for comments and also shared it on Facebook to receive feedback from our friends and family. From this, we created a general list of things we need to work on for our final product:
- Cut it down to two minutes
- Change the music
- Finish the graphics
- Need to change the title so it's easier to see- reshoot at beach and write in sand?
Our teacher then gave us some more specific areas to focus on:
- Look at and edit 1st ident (needs to be more appropriate for target audience)
- 2nd ident needs font changed
- Add in opening graphics
- Try cutting out the towel & paper shot
- Add in music provider
- Zoom in to production designer
- Match the font sizes
- Sort out the colour palette for the fonts (all black? all white? half?)
Our intentions are to go back out to Newquay and re-film some of our shots- the surfboards (have tags with the graphics written on them), the clothes (have a tag with the costume designer graphic on it), possible the shots of the road (write the graphics on the road/wall in chalk) and the last shot with our title (write our title in the sand rather than have it edited on in post production). We are going to go to our second idea for a location, a shop called The Wave Project. They kindly agreed to let us film on their top floor so we're going to redo the entire first part of the sequence set in the interior of a surf shop. We have also scheduled to return to Towan Beach and attempt another effort with the title for our film, preferably written in the sand.
Excellent evidence of editing
